Over the last several years, India has produced a large number of outstanding batsmen for the test format of cricket. Indian batters have a long history of dazzling with their amazing strokeplay, dating back to the great Polly Umrigar and continuing through the incomparable Sunil Gavaskar, godlike Sachin Tendulkar, and unstoppable Virat Kohli. This tradition began with Polly Umrigar and has continued through Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli.

- Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli would not have been considered for inclusion on this list even if they go back only three years.
